Ranch or Estancia?

Sometimes we can get confused if a ranch and estancia are the same things. As we know a ranch is a large plot of land used for raising cattle, sheep, or other livestock while an estancia is a large rural estate where people live surround by huge extensions of green areas.  In the 19th-century stationary ranching, ventures started to form in the pampas, with permanent buildings and marked livestock that clearly defined ownership. They were called estancias, the term indicating the stationary, permanent character.
