Difference between Estancias and Chakras

Estancias and Chakras appeared in Argentina in the 16th century during the Hispanic colonization.

The Chakras were used for agriculture and the Estancias specialized in cattle raising. They mainly raised sheep for wool, and also cows for meat, fat and tallow.

The Estancias had at least 2025 hectares and the Chakras less than 20 hectares. Some Estancias even have up to 250,000 hectares.

Nowadays, the Chakras are a small recreational or residential space. The Estancia usually has more facilities to enjoy, due to its large extensions of land, such as a grocery store, swimming pool and guesthouse.
